Regional Workshop on an Accounting Approach to Climate Change and Biodiversity for Central Asia and the Caucasus

The Regional Workshop on Accounting Approach to Climate Change and Biodiversity for Central Asia and the Caucasus will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, from 9-12 September 2024.The workshop, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in collaboration with the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) will focus on the compilation and use of the System of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) for climate change and biodiversity policies.

Participants from countries from Central Asia and the Caucasus will have the opportunity to increase their technical knowledge of the SEEA, and discuss technical issues related to the compilation of energy and air emissions accounts and other SEEA accounts closely related to climate change and biodiversity policies and how SEEA can support measuring progress towards achieving the targets of national policies and international agreements including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Paris Agreement.  Participants will also learn about good practices in setting up institutional mechanisms, data governance, data sources and dissemination approaches.
