Making Nature Count at the IUCN World Conservation Congress

More than 200 participants tuned in to the IUCN World Conservation Congress side event, Incorporating Nature in Development Planning through NCA. The event's speakers called on the conservation community to drive forward a new IUCN resolution which calls for the development and implementation of accounts for biodiversity.

27th Meeting of the London Group on Environmental Accounting

More than 90 people attended the 27th Meeting of the London Group, which was held virtually from 27 September to 4 October. The meeting sessions focused on methodology, implementation and application of both the SEEA Central Framework and SEEA Ecosystem Accounting.  

New Business and Natural Capital Accounting Case Studies Released

UNSD has released two case studies which assess alignment between existing private sector natural capital accounting approaches and the SEEA. The case studies focus on a Holcim subsidiary in India and a Holcim quarry site in Spain.

South Africa releases SEEA ecosystem accounts for protected areas

On Monday 4 October 2021, South Africa launched the publication Accounts for Protected Areas, 1900 to 2020.  The publication was issued by Statistics South Africa in collaboration with the South African National Biodiversity Institute and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
