The Webinar on the Global Consultation on Guidance Notes for the SEEA Central Framework Update (Tranche 2) is organized under the auspices of the UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting (UNCEEA) with the aim to support the update process of the SEEA Central Framework. The 2026 Joint UNECE/OECD Expert Meeting (formerly called “Seminar”) on the Implementation of SEEA will be organised as an in-person meeting at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on 24-26 March 2026.
The second in-person meeting of the Technical Committee of the SEEA Central Framework for the update of the SEEA Central Framework (Second Tranche) will be held on Monday, 23 March and Friday, 27 March 2026, on the margins of the Joint UNECE-OECD Expert meeting on the implementation of the SEEA. The meeting will convene members of the Technical Committee and other experts to discuss the technical content related to the update of the SEEA Central Framework. The London Group on Environmental Accounting is a city group of the United Nations Statistical Commission established in 1993 to provide a forum for practitioners to share their experience in developing and implementing environmental accounts. Members of the London group are experts primarily from national statistical agencies but also international organizations. The London Group generally meets annually, and the meetings provide a forum for review, comparison and discussion of work underway by participants towards development of environmental accounts.
In the Asia-Pacific region, there is an increased demand for the compilation of ecosystem accounts in support of national policies aimed at the management of ecosystems, and compilation of indicators for national and international reporting. National statistical offices and ministries of environment of countries in the region have expressed strong interest in compiling various SEEA accounts, including taking steps towards compiling ecosystem extent, condition and services accounts which are among the most relevant accounts for informing biodiversity.
