INEGI Releases SEEA Accounts for 2018

On December 4th, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) released the results of the SEEA-Mexico (economic and ecological accounts of Mexico), including accounting tables in physical and monetary terms on the impact of economic activities on the environment (air, water and soil).

IUCN Motion Supporting the SEEA

A motion supporting natural capital accounting and the SEEA for mainstreamining biodiversity values will be brought to the IUCN World Conservation Congress in June 2020 in Marseille, France.

London Group Holds 25th Meeting in Melbourne, Australia

The 25th London Group meeting on Environmental Accounting was held in Melbourne on the 7th – 10th October 2019. The meeting provided an opportunity for delegates to share experiences in the development and implementation of environmental accounts, and to discuss a wide range of issues related to the System of Environmental-Economic Accounts (SEEA).

Government of Uganda launches National Plan for Advancing Environmental-Economic Accounting and pilot SEEA accounts

The Government of Uganda took a significant step in adopting natural capital accounting by launching the national plan and the first set of land and water accounts for the country based on the statistical standard System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA).

African Nations Convene to Shape a Regional Community of Practice on Natural Capital Accounting

Representatives from 18 African countries met on 21 November 2019 for the first ‘Africa Forum on Natural Capital Accounting’ in Kampala, Uganda. Together, they committed to create a new Community of Practice on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) in Africa.
