Australian Community of Experts for the SEEA Revision Process

Australia, an international leader in the development of ecosystem accounting, has strong domestic support  for the SEEA EEA Revision process.  Australian scientists and other members of its academic community participate actively  in the technical working groups that have been developed to inform the revised standards.

In 2019 the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) established an Australian "Community of Experts", consisting of government organisations (both national and state), academia, and other relevant NGO's, for the international SEEA EEA Revision process.

The aim is  to provide updates and overviews of key issues related to the SEEA EEA Revision process to interested stakeholders, including details of how they can engage in the process drawing together a collective sense of the contribution Australians are making to the Revision process and to garner thoughts and reactions to the technical content across the research areas.

The Australian Community of Experts had their first meeting at the beginning of April and will continue to meet  at 6-weekly intervals as the revision process enters a busy period of global consultation.

The ABS will continue to provide information to the Community of Experts and circulate materials as they are released by the UN through the global consultation process.
