Africa

South Africa is one of the five pilot countries participating in an international project on ecosystem accounting.  The project, entitled Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services, is led by the United Nations Statistics Division and UN Environment, with funding from the European Union.

Stats SA and SANBI are leading the project in South Africa and will work closely with a range of national and sub-national stakeholders to further develop ecosystem accounts nationally.

The Closing National Workshop for the United Nations Development Account Project in Kenya is organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in collaboration with Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

The Closing Regional Workshop for the United Nations Development Account Project is organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in in collaboration with Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, UNECA, UN Environment and the World Bank.

STATS South Africa is hosting the stakeholder consultation meeting for the project "Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services" in Pretoria on 20- 21 September 2017.
