Expert Group Meeting on SEEA-related indicators for the Global Biodiversity Framework
The Expert Group Meeting on SEEA-related indicators for the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) will take place from 10 to 12 February 2026 in the offices of UNEP-WCMC in Cambridge, UK. The Meeting is a programmed activity of the project SEEA-related Indicators for the Global Biodiversity Framework | System of Environmental Economic Accounting, funded by the European Union.
The meeting will bring together approximately 20 experts to discuss and review the operational guidelines to support countries to calculate GBF headline indicators A.2 (Extent of natural ecosystems and B.1 (Services provided by ecosystems) using the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting.
Building on the preliminary work completed by the Task Team on Guidelines for SEEA-related indicators for the GBF, the meeting will focus on reviewing the draft guidelines, discussing the remaining conceptual, methodological, and operational challenges, and developing practical solutions to address them. The expected outcome is to resolve the outstanding issues and make significant progress toward finalizing the operational guidelines, thereby strengthening countries’ capacity to produce robust, SEEA‑aligned indicators for GBF reporting.
