Implementation of the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting: Recent country experiences and the pathway to synergies with the Global Biodiversity Framework
This webinar is part of the SEEA Webinar series “Uses of the SEEA for Policy, developed with the aim to highlight various priority and/or emerging policy areas that can be informed by the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA).
This webinar will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about recent country experiences in compiling the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting, the statistical framework underlying headline indicators A.2 Extent of natural ecosystems and B.1 Services provided by ecosystems. The webinar will look at these experiences from a technical and practical standpoint, with an eye towards how the accounts can feed into countries’ monitoring and reporting efforts for the Global Biodiversity Framework.
The objectives of this webinar are:
- To share experiences in the compilation of the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting, with focus on data sources, institutional environment, resources and methods used.
- To gain an insight into the lessons learned and practical steps that countries have taken in the compilation of SEEA Ecosystem Accounting; and
- To understand how the ecosystem accounts can be used for national monitoring and reporting under the Global Biodiversity Framework.
