A number of international institutions and bodies work in environmental-economic accounting, helping to advance and implement the SEEA globally.

The United Nations Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting (UNCEEA) has an umbrella function in providing overall vision, coordination, prioritization and direction in the field of environmental economic accounting.

Furthermore, a number of technical bodies exist which help to advance environmental-economic accounting standards. See here for an overview of these groups. Notable global bodies in environmental accounting include

  • The London Group on Environmental Accounting: A city group which serves as a forum to advance methodological research and develop implementation advice for the SEEA
  • The Technical Committee on the SEEA Central Framework: A small group of technical experts responsible for advancing the research agenda of the SEEA Central Framework and the further development of SEEA implementation materials and tools.
