UK natural capital accounts: 2025

The UK natural capital accounts provide estimates of the economic and social value of natural resources to the UK. The accounts are compiled in line with the guidelines in the United Nations (UN) System of Environmental-Economic Accounting Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA-EA). They present the total size of seven broad terrestrial habitats (extent); the quantity and value of services supplied from ecosystem services provided by nature on an annual basis (physical and monetary ecosystem service flow accounts); and the value of the ecosystem services as an asset, which is the stream of services expected to be provided over the lifetime of the asset (monetary asset account)
