UN Statistical Commission side event: Growing Uptake of the SEEA

The 49th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission will be held from 6-9 March 2018. The UN Statistical Commission is the highest body of the global statstical system and engages in setting statistical standards and implementing these standards at the international and national level. As part of the UN Statistical Commission, the UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting will host a side event on the growing uptake of the SEEA. The side event will feature the progress of work of the Committee in the areas of coordination, development of databases, capacity building and the response to emerging issues, as well as the launch of the revision of the SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting. The event will also include a panel discussion that highlights countries' experiences establishing environmental-economic accounts, including the problems encountered, resolutions implemented and lessons learned.
