The 9th Trondheim Conference on Biodiversity (2-5 July 2019)

Since 1993 Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity have created opportunities for increasing understanding amongst stakeholders about issues on the biodiversity agenda. They allow those involved in setting the agenda to learn and to share views and experiences with their peers.

The 9th Trondheim Conference will bring together decision-makers and experts from around the world to discuss the global biodiversity framework being developed as a follow up to the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020. The Conference will directly support the process established by the Convention on Biological Diversity, with opportunity for major players to discuss key issues informally outside of the negotiation process.

The conference is organized by the Norwegian Government, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP, or UN Environment), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
