Extraordinary Meeting of the UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting

The UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting (UNCEEA) functions as an umbrella body to provide overall vision, coordination, prioritization and direction in the field of environmental-economic accounting. The UNCEEA will conduct the extraordinary meeting during the year to address urgent outstanding issues when needed.  The UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting is governed by the Bureau of the UNCEEA.

The Extraordinary Meeting of the UNCEEA will be held virtually, over two different days. The objective of this meeting is to discuss the progress made on the revised SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting that will be presented to the UN Statistical Commission. The discussion will focus on the revision process, status and outstanding issues of the complete document that is currently undergoing global consultation. and progress made in the drafting. The Committee will also discuss on initiatives such as the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and progress made on areas including ocean accounting, SEEA implementation, and coordination and communication. Background notes with questions to the Committee will be prepared ahead of the meeting.  All participants are asked to read the background notes in advance of the meeting and are encouraged to submit written responses in advance of the meeting.
