Capacity building training programme on the Integrated Use of Geospatial and Statistical Data for Land Information in Central Asia, Phase V
The online training is organized by UN ESCAP (Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division and Statistics Division) for Central Asian countries to explore the principles and tools of compiling land accounts using the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA), with the use of satellite-derived data sets. Participating countries are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Topics include: Current state of land statistics and its relevant challenges in leveraging statistical and geospatial data in Central Asia; Concepts of SEEA-Land Accounting; Diagnostic Tool for Strategic Planning for implementing environment statistics; National, regional and global data sources for land statistics and related remotely-sensed datasets; and Tools and techniques utilizing GIS applications and spatial data sets to compile land accounts, among others.
