Water, energy and solid waste accounts for Fiji
Fiji’s Experimental Environmental Account for Water 2020: The environmental account for water provides a framework for the assessment of water production and use as well as related issues of resource use. This release shows data on the water supplied by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) and alternative sources of water for households. The release at the moment does not include any estimate on the alternative sources of water for businesses. Fiji’s Experimental Environmental Account for Energy 2019: The environmental account for energy provides a framework for the assessment of energy production and consumption as well as related issues of resource use. The initial experimental Energy Account covered electricity generated and distributed by Energy Fiji Limited (formerly known as Fiji Electricity Authority). Fiji’s Experimental Environmental Account for Solid Waste 2019: The environmental account for waste is a framework that describes in detail the production, reuse, disposal and the various types of residuals generated by the different units in the economy. This release captures the physical flows of residuals from the economy to the environment and within the economy. The account contains information on waste gathered by the Department of Environment via the local town and city councils (Naboro and Vunato dumpsites); and estimates on waste generated by households, that is disposed of independently i.e. not collected by the council or private companies.
