Scenario-based assessment of policy interventions in Karnataka State, India. Report of the NCAVES project

The report focuses on scenario-based policy interventions based on the compilation of pilot ecosystem accounts (extent, condition, and valuation of services) for Karnataka for 2005-2019. This is the fourth report in a series of 4: Ecosystem extent accounts (Ramachandra et al. 2021a), Ecosystem Condition (Ramachandra et al. 2021b), and Valuation of ecosystem services (Ramachandra et al. 2021c). These studies were commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as part of the international, EU-funded Natural Capital Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (NCAVES) project. . A preliminary synthesis of ecosystem accounts (extent, condition, and monetary valuation of services) and exploration of the government policies at the federal and national levels, led to the consideration of 5 scenarios especially pertaining to the forest ecosystems.
