Maldives National Waste Accounts 2018 & 2019 - Final Report

The purpose of this report is to present the national waste accounts for the Maldives for the years 2018 and 2019. The specific objectives are to 1( Introduce a framework that serves as a basis in data collection and preparation of the waste accounts; 2) Bring together different information sources into a holistic picture of waste generation, collection and treatment using an accounting framework; 3) Develop a multi-purpose data system which serves user needs - government, service providers, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), citizens; 4) Identify key indicators and proxy indicators on waste for evaluating effectiveness of national policy and planning, as well as progress on SDGs; and 5) Identify data gaps and propose activities that will help improve data collection.
