Establishing a reference tool for ecosystem accounting in Europe, based on the INCA methodology

The INCA tool was developed based on the Knowledge Innovation Project on Integrated Systems of Naural Capital and Ecosystem Services Accounting (KIP-INCA) methodologies. The tool has the objective support, in a harmonized manner, the implementation of the SEEA EA accounts in the European Union . This article introduces the INCA-tool as a reference tool for ecosystem accounting in the EU. It includes the basic concept of the tool, the nine currently integrated and harmonised ecosystem services, as well as its usability.
