Enabling a Natural Capital Approach

The Enabling a Natural Capital Approach (ENCA) guidance is a comprehensive document providing information and resources for natural capital, produced by the United Kingdom Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. It covers: 1) the natural capital framework, 2) economic valuation of the environment, 3) how project or policy appraisal can incorporate natural capital and natural capital accounting principles and methods, 4) benefits and challenges; and 5) applying natural capital at a local level. The guidance includes an assessment template; a services databook of ecosystem services, environmental impacts and guidance; an assets databook collating over 100 UK data sources; tools; and case studies.
