2024 Global Assessment

The Global Assessment monitors the progress of implementation of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 15.9.1(b) on the integration of ecosystem and biodiversity values into national and local planning, development processes, poverty reduction strategies and accounts.

The survey is conducted annually by the UN Statistics Division, under the auspices of the UNCEEA, either as a benchmark assessment, which takes place every three years, or as an abbreviated assessment, which is done between benchmark years.  The last benchmark assessment took place in 2023.

The 2024 Global Assessment is thus conducted as an abbreviated assessment.  This year’s assessment will survey the status of national SEEA implementation, the specific accounts compiled by countries within the last five years and your country views on priority accounts.

The results of the Global Assessment will be published in a table outlining each country’s stage of implementation according to SDG indicator 15.9.1(b), indicating whether the country compiles SEEA Central Framework, SEEA Ecosystem Accounting or both, and links to the country’s reports/databases.
