Road to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework
As the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 has reached its end, negotiations are underway for the creation of a new global biodiversity framework under the auspices of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This page is regularly updated with recent developments, upcoming milestones, resources and opportunities for engagement for the SEEA community with regards to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
The resumed session of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), is being held in March 2022, and includes a scientific and technical review of the draft goals and targets of the monitoring framework of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework (GBF), as well as related indicators and baselines under the proposed monitoring framework. The monitoring framework contains several headline indicators which are based on the SEEA. Similarly, the resumed sessions of the third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI) and the third meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG-3) are also being held in March 2022, to discuss the draft of the framework.
The above meetings will prepare for the COP-15, which is planned to take place in Kunming during Q3 of 2022.
